About Jesus.Place
Why Jesus.Place?
I wanted to create a place where I could talk about how Jesus changed, and is changing, my life. A place where my experiences and ideas might help someone else to take a chance on allowing Jesus to change their life. If this helps one person, then Jesus.Place is a success.
Who Are You?
I’m Tim Soper. Just a regular guy who has a penchant for doing everything in excess. I was close to permanently exceeding myself in 2014 when I had a “Jesus Experience”. Nothing has been the same since.
What’s The Dress Code?
The world is full of hoity toity or churchy or religious places, but this ain’t one of them. If that’s your style then you do you, but I’d rather have real conversations with real people about real ways Jesus can change their lives.
Does That Mean You Are Casual About Jesus?
No, I’m dead serious when it comes to Jesus, but serious like a wedding reception rather than a funeral. Jesus is the most powerful presence I’ve ever experienced in my life, but I see people treating Him like a prize in a collection; an action figure in an unopened box locked in a cabinet. Being a Jesus follower isn’t an achievement for me, it’s an ongoing relationship.
How Is Your Relationship With Jesus?
I might be the most difficult Christian I know. I want to be God, Jesus lets me play at being God, and then He welcomes me back when I crap the bed. You’d think I’d learn my lesson but I’m stubborn. You’d also think that He’d lose patience, but He hasn’t because…well, He’s Jesus. I’m the poster child for the idea that there is hope for all of us.
What Are Your Qualifications To Opine About Jesus?
Qualifications? I have a computer and internet connection. And a relationship with Jesus. But if you are asking if I have some type of formal training, I do not. I read, I listen, I study, and then I try to make sense of what I’ve learned. I encourage everyone to do the same.
So Why Should I Subscribe?
Because I’m on an ongoing case study:
I’m a former savage: I’ve done more stupid stuff than the average human could do in two lifetimes. If I can change, anyone can change.
I had a Jesus experience: yup, I’ve had a REAL experience with Jesus; the type that you don’t talk about because people will think you’re crazy.
That experience changed me: I’m a radically different person than I was prior to experiencing Jesus.
I’m a work in progress: I’d love to say that I became a model citizen immediately afterwards, but that’s not the case. I’m more of a 3 steps forward, 2 steps back type of disciple.
Jesus.Place is where I share this ongoing case study so someone else may see that there is hope for them no matter how lost they are.
Ok, I’m Sold. So What Can I Expect?
Wow! That was a tough sell. But glad to have you onboard. So here’s what you can expect. I envision Jesus.Place as a weekly newsletter published on Tuesdays (with additional occasional posts on Thursday & Saturdays) with the following topics:
General Musings: posts that explore my relationship with Jesus and Christianity. I’m big on healing, love, and non-violence so expect a steady dose of those topics thru a Jesus lens.
Explain Like I’m Five: making sense of Bible passages without a theology degree. I read what the theologians say and then translate that into laymen’s terms with a dose of Tim thrown in.
Tik Talkin Jesus: I’ll be sharing my Jesus centered Tik Tok videos. Why am I swimming in the cesspool that is Tik Tok you may ask. To paraphrase, Willie Sutton, that’s where the people are at.
I’ll also be doing some book reviews, YouTube recommendations, defining Bible words, and hopefully adding some guest posts as well.
Anything Else?
Just go ahead and type in your email in the “Subscribe Now” box below and everytime I publish something new, you’ll find it in your email inbox.
I can’t think of anything else but I would love to hear back from you your ideas and suggestions. Welcome aboard!
